FH-13 Visit to the BRT & the Great Wicomico - February 4, 2012© Photos Posted by Mark Miller © Hi-Res Source
This was a Dive Monitoring Trip for MGFB to the BRT and the Great Wicomico in FH-13. Along on the venture were two of my boys, Paul Miller (16), Luke Miller (14) and their friend Alec Newton (16). On our way out we did some Boat Surfing where the 6 foot swells were cresting over an 11 foot deep sand bar. Our first stop was on the BRT (Big Round Thing). This 3 month old reef was holding some Cobia and is starting to show some juvenile red snapper, jacks, and spadefish. Water visibility was around 30 feet with significantly less in patchy silt. The Dive on the 26 month old Great Wicomico Pogey Boat was similar in visibility but much more game fish. There was also an encounter with a 7 foot Lemon Shark, which I was able to pet and even grab his tail. It was really cool, be sure to check it out at 4:20 into the Video. Water and air temp was around 65°F. Total trip encompassed 63.7 nautical miles, 8 hours, and 38.4 gallons of fuel.
