Red Snapper Fishing the Alabama Pyramids on June 7, 2024© Photos Posted by Mark Primo Miller © Hi-Res Source
Red Snapper season had been open a couple weeks now and this was my second trip out. It was a mostly a fishing trip with friends Soni, Anthony, Charles, Jacob, and Braden, but I managed to sneak in one dive to shoot one myself. We started at the Mississippi Triple Rig to catch some live hard tails and then went East to the Bama Pyramids. The fish were not as large as we usually find, but most were over the legal size of 16 inches. The largest was 21 pounds. We also found a school of chicken dolphin (also known as Mahi Mahi or Dorado) in a tidal rip weed line and we boated a small Cobia. I wanted them to feel an Amberjack fight (out of season) but the fights were short lived as the couple we hooked broke off on the Tensaw Bridge Span. The weather was great though and we had an awesome day on the water.
