This was a gathering of Friends and loved ones to remember and celebrate the life of Seth Barzelay (August 3, 1995 to January 25, 2021). It was an amazing event put on by the enormous amount of friends that Seth made such an impression on during his life. The warmth and love felt was a tribute to his life and brought closure to all who knew him. There was food and fellowship at the Ocean Springs Community Center from 12pm to 4pm and then we moved down to Front Beach where loved ones wrote heart felt words to Seth and sent them to him via a fire. We love you Seth.
During the Event, many took turns to tell a story they remembered about Seth. Pam had to work and missed the event but she told me a couple stories I will share here. One time she came home from work and saw some activity at our boat house. There was a 20 foot ladder propped up against the roof but she could not see anyone. She saw some bubbles in the water and waited until Seth and Luke could not hold their breaths any longer. Apparently they had been jumping off the roof and into the shallow bayou water. She took them up to the house and gave them a "What For" lecture and scolded them rigorously. As she finally stopped, Seth came up and said, "Miss Pam, I promise you that I did not jump even once until Luke had done it at least 8 times!".
One Christmas morning, when Seth was very young, he came over to the house to see what our boys had gotten from Santa Claus. From our Fireplace, there were Footprints of ashes leading into the house with glitter sprinkled around. Pam told Seth that is where Santa came in the house. He said, "Miss Pam, there aren't any footprints at my house". Miss Pam told Seth that Santa usually uses magic to cleanup and he must have been in a rush and forgot. He looked puzzled and wet his finger, tapped some ashes and glitter and tasted them. Miss Pam told him that was Ferry Dust. Looking puzzled he left the house but returned a short time later and said, "Miss Pam, I think you may be right about that being Ferry Dust. I can run and jump higher than ever before!".
