Pam and I went to our 1st Grandson Jack's 1st Birthday event on July 9. My son Ben setup a fishing/diving trip with his buddy on Saturday July 10. Also onboard was Ben's wife Laura as well as his buddy's wife. Pam got to hang with Jack all day while we played offshore. It so happened that this was the only weekend that fishing for Red Snapper was allowed in the Atlantic Federal Waters for the 2021 year. But we struggled as the derby fishing pressure from other anglers during the previous day and this day was quite apparent. Of course, I was all about spearing something. My first dive was at Capo Reef with a max depth of 97 feet and a length of 25 minutes. The visibility was great as I could start to see the bottom at only 30 feet. I only saw one red snapper during the entire dive but I was able to bring him back to the boat. My 2nd dive was in closer at the Outer Plane Culverts Reef with a max depth of 82 feet and a length of 32 minutes. There were a bunch of boats on it and we almost did not stay, but I did make a dive and took out 3 nice red snapper and almost got a nice Gag Grouper. I really enjoyed seeing life we don't usually see in Mississippi like big Goliath Grouper. It was a great day on the water. On Sunday, July 11, we travelled back to Mississippi visiting Amigo's Dive Center, Troy Springs, and Peacock Springs on the way.
