I love visiting a new Crystal Clear Florida Spring so I usually look for one on the way back from a Florida Trip using CaveAtlas.com. On this trip I found and visited Madison Springs which is a Florida State Park located about 68 miles East of Tallahassee. The Spring Pool itself is about 25 feet deep and 85 feet across and runs about 150 feet long dumping into the Withlacoochee River. The reported cavern depth is 130 feet. As is typical with today's envirnoment there was a sign posted about all the rules for Scuba Divers which I did not want to get involved with, plus there were many people swimming, so I opted to pose as a snorkler and sneak in my 7 cu ft pony bottle to check out the entrance with. Then I went downstream with Pam to checkout the entrance into the River. There is a $5 fee to enter the park but it was a very cool place for a short visit, I highly recommend it.
