Not all my trips are Epic. Reports of Tuna over 100 lbs and some over 200 had been pouring into Social Media. My son Ben was coming in for my Birthday on March 3 and arrived around 11am so we loaded up and left about noon for the infamous Horseshoe area also known as the East Lump for those out of Venice Louisiana. We arrived around 3:30pm to find close to 100 boats on this small fishing area. Apparently we were 1 day late as reports claimed lots of tuna the day before but nothing today. There were a few Wahoo reported but we only managed to catch Sharks, Jacks, Vermillion Snapper, and a couple Sand Tilefish. We moved over to the Salt Dome at dark and tried there with less Sharks but still none of the bluewater fish we were seeking. It was still a fun trip and always great to have some Father-Son time. I regret not making a dive when we first got there cause we really fished hard and I ended up not making time for it. PrimoFish - Making Memories.
The trip encompassed 189 miles, 104 gallons of fuel, and 13 hours.
