Dive Trip to MP261 on July 28, 2019© Photos Posted by Mark Primo Miller © Hi-Res Source
FreeDivers Zac Cooper and Colton Causey teamed up with Scuba Divers Jason Patrick and Tommy Bacon. Made the run to VK251, VK340, MP225, and MP261. With Platforms being removed at an alarming rate, boats covered these Gems. AJs were Closed till Aug 1 and Red Snapper were Closed by Mississippi until the next day. That really limited our targets, but Zac and Colton pulled out a pair of Cobias while myself and Jason each lost a Cobia. We also boated some Lionfish, Horse-eye Jacks, and some Mangrove Snapper. I left my speargun on the boat on my last dive and of course saw 2 nice Scamp Grouper. The visibility has been aweful this year because of the Spillway openings, and while it was still green on top, it opened up underneath. The real treat was the Manta Rays we came across running in. Four of them were feeding and although the water was not clear, they were skimming the surface water and entertaining us. It was a fun day on the water. Youtube deleted my first video due to "Shoot to Kill" AC/DC music so I removed all music from this video. Sorry. This trip encompassed 173 miles, 105 gallons of fuel, and 14.5 hours.
