Tuna Fishing with Stuart Phillips on March 7, 2019© Photos Posted by Mark Primo Miller © Hi-Res Source
This was a Fishing Trip with Stuart Phillips of Pascagoula on the "Never Satisfied", a 34' Cobia with Trip 300 Yammys. Also onboard was Ken Gilbert, John Lambert, and John Montgomery. We headed out to the Horseshoe area and found like 100 boats already working it. Apparently the past week and even the day before had some very hot fishing with 3 digit Tunas all around. Today was extremely slow. I hooked up a Bonita straight off and was encouraged that Tuna would follow but it never happened. We caught lots of Vermillion Snapper (Beeliners), perhaps 30, and a King or two, as well as lots of large Sharks. I heard reports of maybe 7 tuna caught amongst all these boats on this day. I pretty much took pics of boats and enjoyed the calm day on the water, which is always a better day than spending it at work. I took some video of our departure, shark fighting, and even one taking a hook out of a Pelican, but I never did make a production as I went offshore just 2 days later and concentrated on that and never got back to this trip.
