This was a trip with Chris Rich, Gary Noel, Derik Conerly, Steve Jordan, and Alison Bosarge to go after Amberjack. Our Amberjack Fishing turned into Shark Fishing as the pesky Sharks would not let our baits get down to our Target. I went down and shot one only to have him break my shaft and swim away into the depths. We were fishing at MP261 which is on the edge of the Continental Shelf in about 300 feet of water in the Northern Gulf of Mexico. We also landed a Barracuda, some Red Snapper, Vermillion Snapper, and Mahi Mahi Chicken Dolphin so we didn't go completely hungry. We also enjoyed some sunset Dolphins around the boat which is always a good time. My second dive was on nearby MP260. Since I had lost my Speargun Shaft to an Amberjack at MP261 on my first dive, I took my Lionfish Pole Spear made by the Lionfish Mafia. I bounced to 196 feet where a Lionfish went unseen at the time but caught on camera. The Scamp Grouper in the crystal clear water had my attention. I found a pod of Lionfish under the 110 foot horizontal on the way up. Had I brought my Zook, l would have landed more, but I settled for a single Lionfish. It was a pleasant relaxing dive in our great Gulf of Mexico. Total Trip encompassed 182 miles, 115 gallons of fuel, and 15 hours.
