Hunting Lionfish in Pensacola on April 12, 2018© Photos Posted by Mark Primo Miller © Hi-Res Source
This was a trip with Jim Hilburn on the Cat'n Onit, a 29' WorldCat. Onboard was myself (Mark Primo Miller), Dyllan Camplejohn, and Chad Patti. The mission was to kill Lionfish for the 2018 World Lionfish Championship pre-tournament where we would get raffle tickets for the lionfish we turned in. We were successful in getting over 800 fish between 2 boats. I turned in 102 fish myself, collected over 5 dives, all between 90 and 118 feet of depth. I had one Shark encounter, had some Triggers interested in eating some of our Lions and I caught a King Hermit Crab as well as an Atlantic Triton. Dyllan shot a nice 6+ pound Mangrove Snapper and Chad got our 4 Triggerfish. It was a great time.
