Red Snapper Fishing with Chris & Linda Rich on August 12, 2017© Photos Posted by Mark Miller © Hi-Res Source
This was a trip with Chris & Linda Rich of Hamilton, Alabama. Also onboard was Omar Vasquez to do some diving with me and help run the boat while I exchange a water quality recorder at FH-7 and FH-6. The weather was a little sour as we went thru rain showers in the morning and afternoon. The winds were much higher than forecasted and the choppy seas kept us in closer. We fished in FH-13 finding only bait stealers. We moved out to the Sea Horse Wreck without much more luck. A dive revealed that the fish were just not feeding, ignoring all the bait and chum we threw into the water. Omar and I took turns diving the Sea Horse and poking a red snapper each. I then made the recorder exchange on FH-6 where Chris finally hooked a nice red snapper. The water visibility was above par but an exhaustive search did not find the recorder deployed on April 21. The new recorder was placed as well as 2 subsurface buoys to aide in locating it. After that, Omar made a dive on the A-Barge in FH-1 which he described as incredible. Although a weak take home catch, it was a fun filled day that encompassed 95 miles, 55 gallons of fuel, and 13 hours.
