The Horseshoe
The Oil Companies build Platforms typically around Salt Domes. This particular one had 7 platforms at one time going around the dome and was open at the South end forming a horseshoe shape, thus the name. Today only a single platform remains but the name has stuck. Recently there was some good Yellowfin Tuna action as seen all across Facebook. The word was out and even though it only lasted about 5 days, everyone was still trying to hookup. I've never seen this many boats in an offshore location like this. The spot is about 70 nautical miles from our port in Mississippi, maybe 50 miles from Venice, and 34 nautical miles from South Pass, so it is impressive to see that many boats there. The Biloxi Boat show was happening onshore, but this was truly a real life boat show.
