This was a trip by the Fowler Brothers - Charles, Gray, and Jimmy. Charles is from Ocean Springs while his brothers came from Madison, Mississippi. Charles and Gray made a trip last year. Jason Jones worked the deck. The winds were not cooperating but we pushed our way out. The pattern had been showing the winds to drop some during the day and then build back, but they did not follow the pattern and we had a good chop all day long prompting some chumming from all of the crew and shortening our Fishing Time. We started off with a bang as Jimmy caught a 22 pound red snapper on live bait we caught on the way out. We actually caught the fish in Louisiana waters so I decided to keep the fish since I had a license for that State. It was a good thing since all we caught most of the day was red snapper and we had to release them. I went diving to try and shoot some more fish and did get one Mangrove Snapper on the first dive and then poked about a 30 pound Cobia on the second dive, but we lost him trying to Gaff him at the boat. We didn't get a lot of take home meat but had a good bit of line tugging by fish and sharks and it made for a really fun day. The trip encompassed 114 miles, 64 gallons of fuel, and 12 hours.
