This was a trip with Charles Fowler of Ocean Springs, his brother Gray Fowler from Madison, and Jamie Cox from Jackson. Omar Vasquez worked the Deck. We started out in State Waters but the fish bite wasn't cooperating too well so we ran out to deeper rigs to try for Amberjack. The Amberjack seemed to have dissapeared from MP175 where we had been finding them the past few trips and so we resorted mostly to spearfishing. The seas were calm, then choppy, then calm, then choppy again. Strange day but we made the best of it. Along the way we stopped at several shrimp boats and found some sharks on one. Jamie caught him one as desired and Omar and I took turns getting in the water with them. I noticed some rope tangled up on the port propeller and worked out a deal with the crew to trade some shrimp in exchange for cutting it out. We were surprised when he gave us a full sack which appeared to weigh probably 100 pounds! This helped make up for our weak fish showing. The day turnned out pretty good, encompassing 134 miles, 80 gallons of fuel, and 10.5 hours.
