This was a fishing trip for Red Snapper in Mississippi State Waters. The anglers consisted of Ben Miller along with Eric Estes and two of his sons, Kyle(17) & Derek(21). We fished in FH-2 & FH-1 and also tried for some Kings at Platform MO-990. No Kings there, but several Spanish. We also hooked a redfish, a short cobia and 2 short Gag Grouper. It was a bit rough but we made the best of it. Coming in we hit another southbound storm. We took some water but it wasn't as bad as the one the previous Sunday, but I do need to perform some weather curtain repair.
An interesting thing we came across after the Storm was a Sailboat that was anchored and had a Storm Battered Jib. We stopped to see if they were okay and we found a woman in a skiff off the back trying to get a battery up on the Sailboat. We asked if they were okay and then if she needed help getting the battery up on the Sailboat. She replied no acted as if we insulted her but she proceeded to fall into the water with the battery losing it. The other 2 occupants on the vessel didn't seem to respond at all. Being clear that we were being pests to their Storm Party, we left. Right after that we came across a Shrimp Boat and a nice man who traded us a few shrimp for some beer.
Our crew fished hard and it was a fun day that encompassed 88 miles, 46.5 gallons of fuel, and 11.5 hours.
