This was opening day of Red Snapper Season 2015. It was a trip with Stephen Cawthon, his son Joseph, and Omar Vasquez. My son Luke (18) worked the Deck. We started at some Shrimp Boats and then proceeded to FH-7 where we had some FAD repair work to do on the Jumbo Barge. After that we tried VK-175, VK-186, and some other spots where we caught Red Snapper, Cobia, Triple Tail, and Grouper. We enjoyed some Ceviche that Omar brought and we made some Carpacci using Red Snapper we caught at the beginning of our trip. One of our expected hot spots had a commercial boat fishing it and was not producing well. We hoped to get out deeper where we had some better spots, but it was just a tad choppy. Still we had little trouble getting our limit and then we enjoyed a beautiful sunset on the way in. It was a fun trip that encompassed 153 miles, 83 gallons of fuel, and 14.5 hours.
