This was a charter by Jennifer Day, Alisha Hardin, and Omar Vasquez. Working the Deck was my son Luke Miller. Our first stop was on 2 shrimp boats about 5 miles before reaching FH-7. It was strange, but there were no fish to speak of. A single shark was caught dropping deep and a pod of dolphins was feeding intermittently, but no visible sharks and pelagics at all near the boat and they were picking their catch. The crew said there were many Sharks the day before, we just missed them by a day. The sea gulls, ganets, and Pelicans were feasting well however. Took a little video from the boat of the Shark interaction followed by Luke cutting out rope from the Vessel's wheel which he did in exchange for some shrimp. It was a weak trade as Luke spent an hour and half a tank of air for about 5 pounds of white shrimp. The crew said they didn't drink and didn't even want any free beer. We left there and made a dive at MP166 in FH-7. Hoping the murk layer was low enough for us to try and repair FAD2 on the Jumbo Barge, but it wasn't. We then went over to MP175 where we limited out on Amberjack and bagged a Trigger. Luke had the big one with a short but fat 44 pounder. With the winds picking up and the girls feeling chilled, we headed north. It wasn't a bad day for January and it encompassed 117nm, 78.5 gallons of fuel, and 10 hours.
