Initially this was going to be a family outing because Luke was having a Birthday the next day and Ben was having shoulder surgery, but eveyone had schedule conflicts so it ended up being a trip with Ben and his buddy Conner Masters. Ben was going in for Shoulder Sugery the next day so this was his last chance before being laid up for 6 weeks. We headed south and stopped to check a few snapper spots before opening day on June 1. We were headed toward the cutoff rigs but since the seas were nice, we decided to head on out to the Salt Dome. We stopped at MP275 just north of there and I made a quick dive. I made a dive on the Salt Dome and then we worked on MP289c there close by. Ben got a nice Cobia free diving that wouldn't take any bait. On MP289c he shot a really nice Cobia but lost it right at the boat. I shot a Scamp Grouper before heading back north. It was a fun day that encompassed 184 miles, 13 hours, and 83.4 gallons of fuel.
