Trip to FH-13 and Beyond.... June 21, 2013© Photos Posted by Mark Miller © Hi-Res Source
This started as a full charter, but at the last minute we lost Marty & Tim. Paul & Luke were going Tuna Fishing with Tim Smith and I got Ben to swap his work schedule to be available to work the deck. Since Ben was off and fired up, it was him along with Omar Vasquez and Wes Lyons. We decided to make it an MGFB Survey trip to FH-13. However, that got sour after being greeted by many boats and murky water. The first dive was on the Kay Eckstein Tug but visibility was near zero. We then crowded a boat on the Mike Jenner and the couple there was gracious enough to allow my visit that produced these photos. We then ventured further to CA43 and VK203A and still found the water to be murky and have high currents. We still managed to find Red Snapper, but the Cobia eluded us. Wes jigged for a Cobia and got him a nice fat Jack Crevalle. It was a fun day that encompassed 117 nautical miles, 63.3 gallons of fuel, and 12 hours.
