Aboard this trip were all 3 of my boys, Ben (19), Paul (17), and Luke (15), and one of their friends, Adam Gaudet. Also on board was king fishermen Wes Lyons of Ocean Springs.
This was a reef monitoring trip for MGFB to FH-13 for a visit to the Mike Jenner Tug Boat and the great Wicomico Pogey Boat. We inspected the
dedication plaque that was deployed on a November 10, 2012 trip.
The plaque had succumbed to organic fouling by the marine environment as shown in the Video. The visibility was quite good on the Mike Jenner and surprisingly
poor on the Wicomico which is only 0.68 nautical miles at 66° away. However, the fish were more plentiful on the Pogey Boat denoting some heavy fishing pressure on the Mike Jenner. A half dozen Cobia were sighted on both reefs but all were just around the legal size limit of 34 inches. We also found Red Snapper plentiful on many of the reefs in the area. Total trip encompassed 65.7 nautical miles, 37.8 gallons of fuel, and 10.3 hours.
