Father's Day Trip to the Ram Powell, Marlin, & Neptune© Photos Posted by Mark Miller © Hi-Res Source
There was a decent weather window forecasted and I couldn't think of a better way to spend Father's Day than to take my 3 boys out to Blue Water. Ben is 19, Paul is 18, and Luke is 16. Also on board was Omar Vasquez, who loves this environment as much as we do. Omar is quite the chef and he brought Ceviche and made us Carpache right out there. This was Red Snapper cooked with Lime Juice as we had no grill with us today. It was delicous. We left out at about 3PM on Saturday and made a night dive on VK734 on our way to the RAM Powell. The RAM Powell had a 20 foot murk layer on top and lots of Sharks that kept us from finding the Tuna. We only caught one small blackfin. We then went over to Marlin where I was able to sneak in a quick dive before being run off the Rig. After that we hit Neptune, also known as the Beer Can, and we all made dives there where we encountered a beautiful Goliath Grouper. Of interest here was Luke's Blackfin Snapper he poked, first ever landed on my Vessel. We fished some more spots on the way in catching Cobia, Kings, and Snapper. It was a fun filled Father's Day weekend that encompassed 215 nautical miles, 126 gallons of fuel, and 27.5 hours.
