This was a trip by Omar Vasquez of Ocean Springs. He brought Jay, David, and Kevin Wroblewski, and Russ Snyder, all of Biloxi. Kevin is 13 years old, Jay is Kevin's Father and David is Kevin's Grandfather. Russ is Jay's Brother-in-law. This was a long trip as they wanted to try for Tuna first. We left out at about 3:00 PM on Saturday and got out to the Neptune (Beer-Can VK-826 1,930 feet deep) at around Sunset.This rig is a Spar Platform, in fact the first one designed for Oil production placed in 1996, the same year I bought my boat. There was not much happening there so we trolled out to the Marlin Floater about 4 miles to the Southeast (VK-915 at 3,236 feet deep). We found some Blackfin action there, but 'Cudas and Sharks were a little bit of a problem and we didn't get any Yellowfin to the boat. We hooked a couple that broke off that may have been Yellowfin. The best action didn't happen until about 4am. The early sunrise bite still showed no Yellowfin and the neighboring boats didn't see any either so we trolled back toward Neptune. We left a little too soon as we heard on the Radio that some Whale Sharks showed up back at the Marlin. Anyway, Omar, Paul, and I dove the Neptune. Omar was taking his new Riffe Speargun he got at Adventurer Locators and got a Stud of a Scamp Grouper. Paul shot a nice Mangrove too. I waited for them to finish and then I took the GoPro for a look see. From there we headed North and stopped at MP261 where we caught some Scamp on the Rods. The AJs were not there so we headed toward MP264. Along the way we hit a weed line where Paul poked his first Triple Tail. We finally got to MP264 and picked up a few nice AJs. Paul got his hosed up in the Rig and had to detach his shaft and leave him there at 160 feet. I followed up to retireve the shaft and his fish. It was a very long funfilled trip that encompassed 209 nautical miles, 26 hours, and 130.8 gallons of fuel.
