This was a Charter Scuba Diving Trip by Jennifer Idol and Ben Castro of Austin Texas (The UnderwaterDesigner) with Primofish. We left out of Gautier, Mississippi and headed South to the edge of the Gulf of Mexico Continental Shelf near the Salt Dome Area or Flat Top, part of the Pinnacles off Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. We ran in fog most of the way, but it eventually cleared up by dive time. The visibility was below par above 100 feet, but the dives were still very enjoyable. Jennifer was not interested at all in fishing, but my son Paul tried to make a believer out of Ben who reeled one in while still in his drysuit. The Amberjack bite was very hot and nobody can deny their power on the end of your rod. Adding to the thrill, Paul hooked a grouper that was half taken by a Mako Shark at boatside. We then finished with a wreck dive on the Linda Susan off of Mississippi on the way in after a fun encounter with a large pod of Dolphins. It was a long fun-filled day encompassing 156 miles, 14.5 hours, and 99.4 gallons of fuel.
