The crew consisted of my 3 Boys - Ben (16), Paul (15), an Luke (13) along with their friend Alec Newton (15). We were prepared to go out deep on this trip, but the winds were just high enough to keep us in at FH-13 and the nearby Rigs to the South, VK-69, VK-68, and VK-113. It was Alec's Birthday and since fishing was banned, we took him down on Scuba for his first time. Of course, I was busy working my Canon T1i and after completion of one of my Dives, I surfaced to find the boys could not stand watching the Sharks and Cobia hanging at the boat. They had found some Mono Leader and made a handline to hook a Cobia. Lucky for the Cobia, I got there just in time to save him from being Gaffed. We boated the fish, took some pictures, and then released him to fight again. The Rigs produced some decent photos of Damsels, Soapfish, Blue Angels, Spadefish, Sergant Majors, and the like. As far as wrecks, we hit the Linda Susan (our favorite), the Great Wicomoco Pogey Boat, and the Southern Star. The fish were very thick thanks to the Closed Fishing Zone. This closure really is a blessing to the fish and for our Diving. Check back for some Videos which I have to make time to compile. I could sure use some help if anybody out there wants to do some editing. It takes so much time. Anyway, when we pulled the boat into her slip, something went swimming out of our canal. Luke went for a closer look and reported that he thought it was a Manatee. We then pursured in our small boat and sure enough it was. We were having trouble identifying it and when we thought we were on top of it, Luke jumped over and Bear Hugged her. Wow, we were really surprised to see him actually land on her. Almost as surprised as the Manatee which promptly threw him airborne with his Tail. I could not believe I did not have the Video Running for that. Anyway, we pursued a little more just to get some Video. You will have to check back to see how that turned out. I did post some video of a previous manatee sighting on Luke's Birthday. Coming back, we thought there might be a second manatee, but that turned out to be a large Aligator. That determined after Paul tried to jump on it but luckily missed. I also forgot to mention that they tried WakeBoarding behind the big Proline for the first time. This was both on the way out and back in. It was quite a full day for the "Mississippi Kids" encompassing 79.5 miles, 11 hours, and 45.3 gallons of fuel.
