FH-1 A-Barge & FH-2 St. Elmo - May 22, 2010© Photos and Video Posted by Mark Miller © Hi-Res Source
This was a Reef Monitoring Survey trip to FH-1 and FH-2. It was also a chance to try out my new Canon T1i Camera underwater for the first time. The Strobe never would fire so all the underwater footage was shot with the Movie Light. The first visit was on the A-Barge which was sunk around 1984. On November 8, 2001 the reef was augmented by concrete rubble, some of which landed on top of the barge. Due to its success, Reef Balls were deployed on top of the Deck as well as the surrounding area on October 6, 2009. This was the first visit since that deployment. The observations showed it to be a very effective enhancement to the reef. Afterward a dive was conducted on the St. Elmo Shrimp Boat in FH-2 which was deployed on October 11, 2008. The lighting was not too good due to a 20 foot layer of River Water on the Surface.
