This was a trip by Raymond and Richard Ulland. Raymond is from Crystal Springs, MS (near Jackson), and Richard is from Biloxi. Raymond had a birthday coming up on the 14th and Richard was on Vacation, so it was time for some fun in the sun. My boys Ben (15) and Paul (14) worked the Deck. We started at the North end of FH-13 on some Pyramids. Richard picked up a Flounder and Raymond put a small snapper in the box. Ben hooked a nice Cobia estimated around 45 pounds, but it broke free due to a straightened out Jig Hook. We then went to some rubble piles and picked up some white trout for bait and headed further out to the 110 foot Rigs. The wind was calm and the water slick as glass. Raymond brought up a nice 18 pound snapper off a Wreck and we then went to fishing the Rigs. Someone must have clanked on the Cobia Calling Bell as we proceeded to boat 5 of them, all ranging from 20 to 58 pounds. Raymond brought up the 58 Pound Beast at the same time Richard brought up a 32 Pounder. Being short of cooler space and having plenty of meat, we released our 5th one although he was still a good 20 pounds. We also boated a 12 pound Snapper as well as another 18 pounder. We also added some Mangrove Snapper to the mix. All in all, it was a very successful fishing trip as we got Raymond back to the dock in time to make his Birthday Dinner Party with his family. Total Trip encompassed 12 Hours, 96.2 miles, and 55.9 gallons of fuel ($142). See their Bonus Trip from the previous day when we deployed the "Tiger Shark" as a new fishing reef.
