Yet another trip in search of the Cactus Moth. The crew consisted of Don Haynes (Barton, MS), Randy St. Louis (Pace, FL), Doyle Nightengale (Pensacola, FL), Stephen Hight (Tallahassee, FL), Chris Albanese (Tallahassee, FL), and John Mass (Tallahassee, FL). The USDA has been working on a project to iradicate a Moth that has been working its way around the Florida Gulf Coast toward Mexico. The Moth Larvae eat Cactus and threaten the Cactus Farming Industry. See my previous trips for more information. This time I took 6 USDA Personnel to Petit Bois while Steve West took 6 others to Horn Island on the Mr. Champ. For the most part we did not find many signs of the insect, but Stephen Hight did find 2 cocoons and one larvae in a "Fat Boy". Other than that the Island looked clean. Total trip encompassed 41 miles and 7.5 hours.
