We made three trips during the month of June on Steve Shireman's 28 Pursuit. All to FH2, FH13 and some of the close in rigs. The visibility was great at mid depth but deteriorated within 20 feet of the bottom. Sea conditions on each trip were a little choppy in the morning but smoothed out by days end. Fishing action was always steady throughout the day. We caught and shot a wide variety of fish: Cobia, kings, snapper up to 20#, Warsaw/gag grouper, sheep head, trigger fish and two tiger sharks. We even ran into a school of dolphin (mahi mahi) behind a shrimp boat 5 miles from Dog Keys pass. Steve and Glen each shot their biggest fish to date and Tommy and Paul finally drew "first blood" each. A great time was had by all. It is truly amazing, the quality of fishing we enjoyed without having to make a 50-mile trip in one direction. All this is due to the efforts of MGFB, the Mississippi DMR and the rest of the volunteers who work tirelessly to improve our fisheries resource. The crew on these trips consisted of: Steve Shireman, Glen Shireman, Craig Kuhn, Paul Elmore, Tommy Hayes and myself. Thank you Mark for providing us a place to share our adventures.
