The crew consisted of Mark Walker and Randy Ortell from Birmingham and John Lamb from Biloxi. Weather was not real cooperative, but could have been worse. We caught a few showers, but the crew did not seem to mind much as this was mostly a Diving expedition. We started at the Gwen Tide, but since visibility was poor, we moved to a nearby rig. Interestingly, we hooked something big on 30 pound line with no leader. The fish first went straight out and we thought it might be a shark, but then it turned back and went into the rig. Thinking a shark would not do this, we hoped it to be a large cobia. We free spooled the line and went down after it. It turned out to be a 30 pound King. It was really amazing that we landed this fish with no leader and after he made 4 or 5 raps around the rig legs. We hit several other spots in FH-13 and FH-2. We managed to land a few nice Snapper and a Grouper, mainly on rod n reel due to visibility, and everyone had a good time. Total trip encompassed 65 miles and 10 hours.
